The Best motorcycle jackets & pants 2021

All-weather motorcycle jacket & pants

For touring and adventure motorcycle enthusiasts, we recommend

I’ve been through all kinds of weather conditions in my 40+ years of riding. Since there are so many brands to choose from, we’ve narrowed it down to four. Every motorcyclist needs at least one motorcycle jacket and pants. Riding a motorcycle leaves you exposed to the elements and dangers of the road, as well as at the mercy of the weather. The best motorcycle jackets and pants or suits offer crash protection in a comfortable, flexible, and hopefully, waterproof package. Despite there being thousands of products to choose from out there, there are plenty of so-called riding jackets out there that aren’t fit for purpose. Please look for a pants package that is of comparable quality to the suggested jacket.

Harley Davidson Jacket and Rider Pants

I bought my FXRG leather jacket in the 1990s and have owned it for over 20 years.. Whenever I hear that Harley-Davidson has introduced new FXRG riding apparel, I jump at the opportunity to try the new product. “FXRG” is the designation Harley uses for its high-performance functional riding gear. I keep it simple: To me, FXRG means bulletproof, and according to the description, the Man’s & Women’s FXRG Leather Jacket and Leather and Textile Pants seemed to embody that attribute.

BMW GS Jacket and Rider Pants

.

I own a Harley Davidson FLSTF and a BMW R1200GS motorcycle, I want both leather and textiles. The BMW GS Dry jacket and pants are more than capable of going through a full day of heavy rain without letting the water penetrate the materials they are made from. And the best part is that, even though we are talking about a waterproof motorcycle suit, the GS Dry is not at all to hot on warm days. With vents under the arms and on the upper and lower back, the jacket vents itself well even on low speeds. The pants do not come with any vents, but curious enough they keep the hot temperature away from your legs. Safety features on the pants include removable armor at the knees, which are adjustable, and at the hips. Other features include adjustment zippers on the outside ankles, ventilation zippers on the upper thighs, two side zipper pockets, two back pockets and two mid-thigh snap-closed cargo pockets.

StreetGuard jacket and pant is done to perfection. Yes, it’s expensive and yes, as you’d expect from BMW it’s made from all manner of high tech materials that keep you warm in winter and cool in summer with a bamboozling spec that means little to any of us, other than posting the question… does it work? To which the simple answer is yes. For me, a textile suit has to do several important things. Warm, obviously, waterproof, absolutely – 100% or it’s crap. BMW’s StreetGuard suit has undergone additional refinement this year and now offers just about every detail required in the creation of a class-leading, highly technical garment. Upon the first examination, the details and possibilities are all that a serious rider might want, need or imagine.

Klim Traverse Jacket and Pants

I’ve heard so much about it that I feel compelled to recommend it. The Klim Badlands Pro Jacket’s main chassis is made of Gore-Tex 3-layer Pro Shell material, which is abrasion-resistant, waterproof, and “guaranteed to keep you dry”. It’s mainly made of a tough outer layer, then a Gore-Tex waterproof layer, and a breathable backing for the interior. So, the jacket has been specifically designed for the toughest adventure riders and is guaranteed to master continuous abuse from hardened world travelers. However, you also get additional Superfabric on the shoulders, elbows, and forearms for additional abrasion resistance. And there is a 500D Karbonite Ripstop in high wear areas around the seams.. Designed for the toughest Adventure Riders who overcome the harshest elements. Developed to master continuous abuse from hardened World Travelers. Introducing the next generation of the Badlands Pro. The most trusted name in ADV. Get your man card out, you’re gonna need it.

Rukka Motorcycle Clothing

Is this the best overall, according to the rumors? Perhaps. The gear designers at the Finnish company Rukka ought to know a thing or two about cold, wet weather riding too with their headquarters just 386 miles from the arctic circle. That could also explain some of the interesting features on this suit. Rukka motorcycle clothing is renowned throughout the world for being the most technically advanced range on the market, designed to meet the strictest standards for both safety, and rider comfort.

How To Choose Adventure Motorcycle Pants:
There are a few terms you’ll come across when looking at motorcycle pants and jackets.
Here’s a brief explanation of some of them:
Denier: A term used in the textile industry. It is a measurement of the density of the fibers. It measures the weight in grams of 9000 meters length of the material. The lower the Denier number, the finer the material, the higher the number, the coarser the material.
Kevlar: A lightweight synthetic fabric that has a very high tensile strength, which makes it good for abrasion resistance.
An important factor if you drop your bike on the road.
Cordura: Duponts original brand name for a line of highly durable fabric.
Reactive Armor: A type of armor that is soft and flexible at rest and becomes rigid on impact. An example is Leatt’s 3DF impact foam used in their body armor, which instantly transforms into a hard energy absorbing substance under impact during a crash. Other manufacturers like Klim call it D30. It is used in numerous sports, even the military use it.
Hard Armor: A plastic armor used on impact areas like knees and hips in pants, and elbows and shoulders in jackets. It is typically covered by a cushioning foam material on the inner side for comfort.
CE rating: The letters “CE” are the abbreviation of the French phrase “Conformité Européene” which literally means “European Conformity”.
It has to do with European motorcycle safety standards. America has unofficially adopted these standards, but they are not required by law for street use. In contrast, to ride a motorcycle in Europe, you have to have protective apparel that meets these standard
